One of life's little joys is picking wild fruit, so on one of our recent dog walks, we decided to pick some blackberries to make a blackberry and apple crumble.
I loosely followed this recipe from BBC Good Food, but, as I often do, adapted it as I went. This is how it turned out:

Absolutely delicious!
I'll give you the steps here, in case you'd like to have a go at making it too:
Ingredients (for 4 people):
350g apples (I used one Bramley cooking apple and two leftover Gala apples)
225g blackberries
240g plain flour (for breadcrumbs)
120g butter (for breadcrumbs)
120g caster sugar (for breadcrumbs)
30g butter
30g brown sugar
sprinkling of cinnamon

Method:
Rub together flour, butter and sugar to make breadcrumbs.

Spread onto a baking tray and put in the oven for about 15 minutes on 190 degrees C/170 fan/gas 5. I did this, although I'm not sure you really need to.
Meanwhile, peel and chop the apples.
Add the 30g of butter along with the brown sugar into a saucepan and heat gently so it becomes like caramel.

Tip in the apples and stir occasionally for about 3 minutes.

Add the blackberries and a good sprinkling of cinnamon. Cook for several minutes.

Tip into a heatproof dish and add the crumble mixture on top.
Heat in oven for 10 minutes when ready to serve.
Debate whether you should eat with custard or ice cream. It's evenly split in our house!
